Privacy policy

Last updated: 15 August 2026. This explains what data UPSCPath AI collects and how it is used.

Draft notice: this policy uses placeholders in brackets (business name, grievance officer, contact details, address) that must be filled in with your registered business information before this page is relied on in production. It is written to be compliant in spirit with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and IT Rules, 2021, but should be reviewed by a legal professional before launch.

1. Who this policy covers

This policy applies to everyone who visits or uses UPSCPath AI (the "Platform"), operated by [Legal Entity / Proprietor Name] ("we", "us", "our"), whether or not you create an account.

2. Information we collect

a. Account information

When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google. We do not receive or store your Google password.

b. Study activity

Which chapters you open or mark complete, reading progress, pages read, time spent, and your selected language (English/Hindi), so we can show your progress back to you.

c. Feedback

Responses to the on-site feedback survey (for example, whether you found the notes useful, whether you want the full NCERT-to-interview guide, and willingness to pay for AI-based Mains evaluation), and any free-text message you choose to add. This can be submitted anonymously without signing in.

d. Usage and analytics data

We use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics, and we also record a first-party log of page views and feature usage (for example, which study tab you opened, or whether you used the light/dark reader theme) to understand how the Platform is used and to improve it. Visitors who are not signed in are identified only by an anonymous, randomly generated ID stored in your browser — never by name or email unless you choose to sign in.

e. Technical data

Standard technical data collected automatically by any web server: IP address, browser/device type, referring page, and timestamps.

3. Cookies

We use a small number of cookies: a session cookie to keep you signed in, and cookies set by Google Tag Manager / Google Analytics to measure site usage. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings; doing so may sign you out or reduce some functionality.

4. How we use this information

  • To run the Platform and show your reading progress back to you;
  • To respond to and prioritize development based on feedback;
  • To understand usage patterns and improve content and features;
  • To keep the Platform secure and prevent abuse;
  • To communicate important account or service updates.

We do not sell your personal data.

5. Who we share data with

We share data only with service providers who help us run the Platform, including:

  • Google (sign-in, Tag Manager, Analytics);
  • Cloud storage and hosting providers (for NCERT content and application data);
  • Our database provider, for storing account, progress, feedback and analytics data.

We may also disclose data where required by law, or to protect the rights, safety or property of UPSCPath AI, our users, or the public.

6. Children's privacy

Our NCERT content spans Class 6 to 12, so some visitors and students using the Platform are minors. Sign-in uses Google's own account system, which has its own age requirements and family-safety controls — we recommend minors use the Platform with a parent's or guardian's awareness. We do not knowingly collect any personal data about children beyond what is described in this policy, and we do not use children's data for advertising.

7. Data retention

We retain account, progress and feedback data for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal obligations or resolve disputes. Anonymous analytics data may be retained longer in aggregated form.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures (such as encrypted connections and access controls) to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • Give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
  • Correct inaccurate data;
  • Delete your account and associated personal data;
  • Withdraw consent for optional data uses (for example, analytics), where applicable.

To exercise these rights, contact our Grievance Officer below. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable Indian law.

10. International data transfer

Some of our service providers (including Google and our cloud hosting/database providers) may process data on servers located outside India. Where this happens, we rely on those providers' standard safeguards.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Platform evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
